AFCON 2017: Mauritius FA president warns Ghana

Mauritius Football Association president Sohba Mohammad Ally Samir has warned the Black Stars not to write them off in Sunday’s 2017 Africa Cup of Nations penultimate qualifier.

Ghana are seeking to repeat the 7-1 first leg drubbing in Accra last June but Club M are a formidable side at home.

Mauritius have won all two previous home matches are bent to add Avram Grant’s side to the list of victims.

“Ghana is one of the best football countries in Africa and boast of quality players but we will teach them that football in recent time has no minnows. Anybody can become a winner so they should expect a bitter lesson,” Samir told Kumasi-based Otec FM.

“Our players are not greedy so they don’t take money before representing the country, rather with pride. They play to make the nation and the supporters proud and loud.”

Samir added: “Individuals donate to the team whenever they play to their satisfaction and sometimes we give them between $200 and $500 if they win a game. I’m told Black stars players are taking $10,000 but it’s not surprising because de Ghana FA has enough money to spend.”
